Dr. Adriane Otopalik was a HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellow in the laboratory of Vanessa Ruta. They used a wide variety of experimental approaches, from cellular physiology to quantitative behavior, to investigate neuronal mechanisms underlying behavioral flexibility and diversification within and across Drosophila species. Adriane obtained their B.A. from Wellesley College and Ph.D. from Brandeis University, where they studied how inter-animal variability in neuronal morphology shapes cellular and circuit function. Adriane is invested in the well-being and retention of LGBTQ+ scientists in the academic ecosystem.
