Aylesse Sordillo was a graduate student in the Bargmann Lab, where she used the roundworm C. elegans to study how a single population of neurons can use more than one chemical messenger, or neurotransmitter, to affect an organism’s behavioral output. Aylesse previously served as co-director of the Summer Neuroscience Program at the Rockefeller University, organizing and teaching a two-week crash course in neuroscience to some of NYC’s brightest public high school students. When not in lab, she is usually biking to eat as much food and experience as much art as humanly possible. An enthusiastic resident of NYC since 2006, Aylesse wants science to be as diverse as the city she calls home.
