Dr. Trevor Sorrells was a Jane Coffin Childs postdoctoral fellow studying mosquito behavior in the lab of Leslie Vosshall. He used genetic approaches to study the brain circuits that control blood feeding. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Francisco studying molecular biology and evolutionary genomics. He received an NSF graduate fellowship and the Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award for this work. While at UCSF, he co-founded a local graduate student organization to promote visibility and community among LGBT scientists.
